KEMA pursues its growth strategy further
In-depth review of strategic options
Arnhem, The Netherlands, 16 June 2011
– Knowledge-based energy services company KEMA has taken a further step in implementing its growth strategy. To anticipate in the best possible way future opportunities offered by the worldwide energy sector − in part due to developments in the area of energy transition − the company has initiated a detailed and comprehensive review of its strategic options. As part of this broad strategic orientation, the current ownership structure will also be reviewed. Shares in KEMA are currently held by various energy companies and network operators. The review has the support of the Supervisory Board, as well as the shareholders, and is expected to take several months.
KEMA has been active in the energy sector for over 80 years. This sector is highly dynamic, in part due to the transition to a renewable energy supply. For example, the development of intelligent energy networks (smart grids), which are essential to energy transition, offers many opportunities. Over the last five years in particular, KEMA has grown and has become strongly international, and it is KEMA’s goal to continue expanding its prominent role in the international energy sector over the next five years. During this period, there will definitely be many new opportunities for staff to develop further in an international environment.
In 2010 KEMA realized revenues of EUR 245.3 million (up 19% from 2009) and an EBIT (earnings before interest and taxes) of EUR 19 million (up 44% from 2009). (1)
