Smart grid innovations for grid monitoring, open systems architecture, plug-in hybrid electric vehicles, and more

PJM Interconnection President and CEO interviewed in KEMA’s Automation Insight issue

Smart grid technologies have an integral role among change drivers of the energy and utility industry. Many technologies are in development to support various needs and functions for the utility of the future. PJM Interconnection is innovating across this field from synchophasors or phasor measurement units to monitor the grid at a higher frequency to a standard platform that integrates management systems, and vehicle-to-grid technology that uses off-peak electricity from the grid to charge plug-in hybrid electric vehicles.

The November 2010 issue of KEMA’s free, monthly newsletter, Automation Insight, features an interview with PJM Interconnection President and CEO Terry Boston, who discusses PJM’s innovation initiatives that are paving the way for a smart, reliable and sustainable energy future.

This issue also features a podcast interview brief with Tropos Networks Vice President Rob Pilgrim on private vs. public network benefits for utilities.
