Successful 6th Bonner Energiegespräche

On November 12, 2009 KEMA Bonn held the '6th Bonner Energiegespräche' in Bonn. This year’s topic was: 'Zwischen Regulierung, Wettbewerb und Innovation - Die Zukunft der deutschen Energiewirtschaft' ('Between Regulation, Competition and Innovation – The Future of the German Energy Sector').
Highly reputed experts in the energy market were invited to present this red-hot topic from various market perspectives and to then hold discussions with the audience about the current market situation in Germany.
Amongst the speakers, KEMA was delighted to welcome Dr. Heinz-Jürgen Scheid (Head of Division 'Principle Questions for Future Energy Supply' of the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology), who gave a presentation about 'The Outlook for Future Energy Policy'. Andreas Sippel (Sales, STAWAG Stadtwerke Aachen AG) gave a lecture on 'Public Utility Companies in Change – Innovations for the Coming Decade'. Stefan Grützmacher (CEO of Stadtwerke Kiel AG) provided an insight into 'Cooperation, Strategic Alliances or (Re-)Municipalization as an Answer to Regulation and Competition' and Christoph Müller (Member of the Board of Directors of EnBW Transportnetze AG) concluded the conference with a speech on 'Development of the German Energy Sector – Chances and Risks for Transmission Network Operators'.
In his key-note Claas F. Hülsen, Head of KEMA’s Operational Excellence Team, addressed the future challenges in the German energy market, stating, 'the energy sector has significant challenges ahead. Future sustainability can only be achieved by combining different sources of energy and changing the existing business models of the utilities’.
After the speeches a lively discussion took place between the audience members and the speakers.

The Bonner Energiegespräche is an annual event, traditionally taking place in November. It creates a useful platform for industry players to exchange knowledge and experience.
